Analysis of effect of different construction methods of piles on the end effect on skin friction of piles

ZHOU Hongbo, CHEN Zhuchang

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2007, Volume 1, Issue 4,   Pages 458-463 doi: 10.1007/s11709-007-0062-7

Abstract: Based on the comparative analysis of end effect on skin friction of displacement-pile (driven pile),the end effect on skin friction of bored pile is studied.skin friction of bored pile is reduce of skin friction in the soil layer adjacent to the pile end.The test results of post-grouting piles indicate that the post-grouting technique is an effective wayto improve the end effect on skin friction of bored pile.

Oxygen Penetration Through Full-Thickness Skin by Oxygen-Releasing Sutures for Skin Graft Transplantation Article

Wenjing Zai, Yunong Yuan, Lin Kang, Jialong Xu, Yiqiao Hu, Lifeng Kang, Jinhui Wu

Engineering 2023, Volume 29, Issue 10,   Pages 83-94 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2023.05.006

Abstract:

The transplantation of full-thickness skin grafts (FTSGs) is important for reconstructing skin barrierSufficient oxygen supply is closely related to the success of skin grafting. However, full-thickness oxygen delivery is limited by the poor oxygen permeability of skin.sutures (O2 sutures) were developed to facilitate oxygen penetration through full-thickness skinsutures delivered 100 times more oxygen than topical gaseous oxygen therapy at a 15 mm depth in the skin

Design and applications of morphing aircraft and their structures

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2023, Volume 18, Issue 3, doi: 10.1007/s11465-023-0750-6

Abstract: Morphing aircraft can adaptively regulate their aerodynamic layout to meet the demands of varying flight conditions, improve their aerodynamic efficiency, and reduce their energy consumption. The design and fabrication of high-performance, lightweight, and intelligent morphing structures have become a hot topic in advanced aircraft design. This paper discusses morphing aircraft development history, structural characteristics, existing applications, and future prospects. First, some conventional mechanical morphing aircraft are examined with focus on their morphing modes, mechanisms, advantages, and disadvantages. Second, the novel applications of several technologies for morphing unmanned aerial vehicles, including additive manufacturing for fabricating complex morphing structures, lattice technology for reducing structural weight, and multi-mode morphing combined with flexible skins and foldable structures, are summarized and categorized. Moreover, in consideration of the further development of active morphing aircraft, the paper reviews morphing structures driven by smart material actuators, such as shape memory alloy and macro-fiber composites, and analyzes their advantages and limitations. Third, the paper discusses multiple challenges, including flexible structures, flexible skins, and control systems, in the design of future morphing aircraft. Lastly, the development and application of morphing structures in the aerospace field are discussed to provide a reference for future research and engineering applications.
